TSA/Gestapo ejects man from airport

The family and I are traveling this Thanksgiving. I’m quite apprehensive about the airport experience; I don’t want my baby girl going through one of these scanners and I’m not thrilled at the prospect of getting groin checked.

  1. The last time I stepped onto a plane was when I left Italy. And I have no plans to step onto another one. Can’t enjoy the scenery from 30,000 feet.

Well said, TRex. Unfortunately, the logistics of traveling with an infant and the time constraints I’m under mean airline travel is the best method. I’d love to be like the guy in the article, but can’t afford it.

  3. It might be a little late to mention this. I didn’t know so many people are afraid of the “radiation” from the scanners. Unless things have changed dramatically in the last 8 years or so, since I looked into it, it is about the same as you get from watching HDTV, or making calls on the older “bag phone” style cell phones. It is called millimeter wave technology, if you want to research it. I didn’t say anything before cause I didn’t know that was what concerned people.

  4. I did some further checking into those airport scanners, and there are two kinds. One uses, as I said, millimeter wave technology. The other uses X-Ray backscatter. I can say for certain the millimeter wave systems are safe, but I don’t know anything about the X-Ray Backscatter systems. I can’t find anything that tells which airports use which technology.
