...he's not confirming this, though. I think he's playing this nomination
very cool.

...on Google, Combat Effective is the
first hit. That's kind of cool, though not
necessarily how I would hope someone would stumble across the site.
:-)
UPDATE: This string "michelle obama whitey comment" returns Combat
Effective as the first hit on Yahoo!.
How do I know this? I can see how people come to the site via
SiteMeter's referring URL tool. I don't spend my time searching
random strings to see if the site comes up.

...so the CombatWife and I have followed
American Idol this year (a much needed break
from politics!), and last night was the finale with the voting to
be revealed tonight. Personally, I think David Cook is the better
performer and vocalist. I just don't get Archuleta - every song
sounds the same and his voice sounds kind of cartoonish (?). Yet
they heap praises upon him. I'm definitely no Simon Cowell, Paula
Abdul, or Randy Jackson but...really? Does he really sound that
good?
Anyway, when it's all said and done it will have been interesting
but nothing more.
UPDATE: Well, we just watched the finale and we were very pleased to see David Cook take the crown by a 12 million vote margin. Well done!

The Boston Globe, unsurprisingly, would
have you
believe so. My sympathy to the Senator and his family in these
difficult times. I do have a hard time with his lionization, though.

The thought of former President Bill
Clinton as a Supreme Court Justice made me laugh - can you imagine
his ego and the silliness that would follow? But the thought of
Senator Clinton on the bench instead sends chills down my spine. From that
seat, her ruthless ambition and agenda would be checked only by the
other justices. If I had to choose between the two, I'd rather see
her be President.

...and blame the price on OPEC price
collusion. Shell CEO Hofmeister says that's not the case, that
it's simply supply and demand at work. If I remember
my ECON 101, increasing that supply will lower the price,
right?

...waiting for the network to come back up
(with the DMV) so they can knock out a smog check (who knew?) when
this guy walks in with a six-shooter slung from his waist. That's
just not something you see much anymore. The 2nd Amendment
rocks.

The first commentor hits the nail on the head.
Wow. Has she spent beyond what she can contribute to the
campaign?
It's not fair to keep going if you
cannot pay the bills. It's wrong to incur debt if you cannot repay
the debt. It's dishonest. It's bad planning and
leadership.
Imagine what would happen if she were
in charge of our economy? She has made so many costly promises.
She's like a teenager with a credit card. Only the American public
are the ones who will need to pay the bill.
Scary.
She's not paying her bills but wants you to vote for her.

Commentary Magazine thinks so. I think it'd be a mistake on his
part, and one that would cost him the election. Many, many people
voted for him - and crossed party lines to vote for him - on the
notion of change. Picking Hillary Clinton (or John Edwards or Al
Gore) as his VP would undermine that notion.

...it's official. CNN has an article on it and Obama's campaign is sending
out emails about it. Obama has clinched the "absolute majority" of
delegates, meaning there is no mathematical way Clinton can
overcome his delegate lead. From the email:
The only way she's going to win the nomination is if she convinces
the superdelegates to overrule the elected delegates. I think
that'd destroy the DNC's chances of attaining the White House in
November.

...and they all seem to toe the Democratic
party line. Consider Social Security - he will not consider privatization. The gov't has no inherent right
to my money; what they have, they take by force. There is a
compromise: if you are going to force people to save for their
retirement, at least let them do so using the market (like the
wealthy do). So much for reaching across the divide.
