New York considers 'organ-removal' ambulance...
Written by CombatRob
Friday, 06 June 2008

...I think this could be a good idea - if the deceased or family had or have given authorization beforehand. For them to show up and begin sustaining measures with the hope or expectation of organ release...that's a recipe for disaster (and litigation).

Africa in perspective...
Written by CombatRob
Wednesday, 04 June 2008

...it's pretty common knowledge that a lot of map projections show Africa as smaller than it is. How much so?

Consider the first image that comes up when you Google "the world map".

Look now at the 'Robinson projection', the map in popular use since the 60's.

Then there's the 'Peters projection'. Peters argued that the maps before his skewed the way the world was viewed by the West. His, he claimed, was a true to scale map.

OJW: Federal judge refuses to throw out Jefferson indictment
Written by CombatRob
Wednesday, 04 June 2008

An LA judge will not throw out 15 of the 16 counts again Representative William Jefferson. That's good news. The defense had hoped to sell the 'allegedly' corrupt Congressman as one who engaged in mere "influence peddling".

In other Jefferson news, the Congressman has endorsed Obama. I wouldn't expect Obama to tout that endorsement, both for it's origin and late timing.

The last word on Hillary Clinton...

...no shame, no gain. Michael Tomasky writes on the audacity of the Clintons, their lack of shame, and sense of entitlement. I have one more post planned about the Clintons and then - barring any truly remarkable news - that is the last thing I will have to say about them for awhile.

Clinton to concede 'delegate count'
Written by CombatRob
Tuesday, 03 June 2008
As if we needed further proof of the Clintons' vast ego and sense of entitlement, the Senator will be "conceding" (as though it was in question) tonight that Obama has cinched the number of delegates required for the nomination. She will not be conceding the race, however, nor will she be suspending her campaign. So it's an unofficial, official end to her campaign.

I'd say, "WTF?" but it's not really all that surprising. Not that it matters, either. Senator Obama is the nominee for the Democratic party.
