Paul Hoffmeister ponders America's Socialist Revival PDF Print E-mail

Mr. Hoffmeister writes on American socialism, the free market, gold, and moves the GOP should make. From the article:

But should the Republican Party kneel to the emerging socialist tendencies of the voters? No. History has proven that good capitalism is superior to good socialism, and thus the GOP must repair the capitalist system by advocating a monetary policy whose objective is stable, sound money. Additionally, it should seek the abolishment of tax penalties on successful risk-taking, i.e. the capital gains tax.

The GOP should do these things. But they won't. And they will lose.

An LA judge will not throw out 15 of the 16 counts again Representative William Jefferson. That's good news. The defense had hoped to sell the 'allegedly' corrupt Congressman as one who engaged in mere "influence peddling".

In other Jefferson news, the Congressman has endorsed Obama. I wouldn't expect Obama to tout that endorsement, both for it's origin and late timing.

As if we needed further proof of the Clintons' vast ego and sense of entitlement, the Senator will be "conceding" (as though it was in question) tonight that Obama has cinched the number of delegates required for the nomination. She will not be conceding the race, however, nor will she be suspending her campaign. So it's an unofficial, official end to her campaign.

I'd say, "WTF?" but it's not really all that surprising. Not that it matters, either. Senator Obama is the nominee for the Democratic party.

...minds. Yes, they can. But it's highly unlikely. Would you want to be the superdelegate that defied the popular elected delegate count and gave the nomination to Clinton over Obama? Not likely. She is sounding desperate. Part of that is media portayal, and part her own words.
