Civil War : Aleksandr
This is not the Supreme Court going crazy, just legislating instead of checking if a law or action is in line with the US Constitution (like they are constitutionally created to do).

It is a continuation of the road that we are heading down, where the government in general takes power away from the people, and the federal government in particular takes power away from the states.

This is what the Civil War was all about, not slavery (although that was used as a proper excuse to get support for it), but the ability for the federal government to take power in order to improve commerce. It was the first shot in the move towards globalization. First remove state borders, then we will move on to national borders.

However, the government is now moving beyond commerce and more into controlling the population. The socialist dream will be achieved not through revolution, but through the Big Brother knows best mentality. Only because we as a society and a culture have become too lazy to take personal responsibility and to look into the mirror to see what is wrong with us and our situations. It is always easier to blame someone else, rather then yourself, and it is always easier to get the government to help, rather then help yourself.

In the end it is why all empires fall and will continue to fall.

The world belongs to the hungry, not to the full.

I was formulating a response to this - then I read Aleksandr's comment. That takes it all in. Amen.

One note (from the article) of particular intrest for this one case is:
I’ve argued that while the Exclusionary Rule isn’t perfect, it’s necessary, because it’s really the only effective deterrent to Fourth Amendment abuses. History has shown us that bad cops in fact aren’t properly disciplined by their departments or by prosecutors. The doctrine of qualified immunity and the tendency of judges, jurors, and police administrators to show deference to police, victims of illegal searches and excessive police tactics rarely if ever recover any damages—if their case is fortunate enough to even get by summary judgement.
