Morning Brief: from Yorkshire hats to Mugabe to Cindy McCain

First up, our friends across the pond in the UK have been warned not to wear hats in pubs. A social norm? Sadly, no. The hat obscures the view of the numerous CCTV cameras Big Brother has installed, you see.

Next, Robert Mugabe says we're all liars. Somehow, the notion of a brutal dictator and thug calling me a liar doesn't bother me. What's the saying? To be damned by the devil is to be truly blessed.

Lastly, SayAnything's got a post up about a side of Cindy McCain I'd heard about but not read anything on...she seems like sort of an impatient humanitarian. Good, we need more of that.

Mugabe is a product of the messed up priorities and a failed policy in Africa.

It used to be that the US was the last vanguard of democracy against socialists and all other threats to liberty, but with the sellout of Africa in the 80's the US has slowly been losing ground everywhere. This all is because of good intentions.

As Samuel Johnson said, "The road to hell is paved with good intentions." In Africa our good intentions only managed to plunge "the dark continent" from darkness into the real darkness of hell.

The final straw will be when South Africa completes its transformation into Zimbabwe following in the steps of Rhodesia.

coupled with a soft head, can do some real damage.

I really don't know enough about this to comment intelligently, but what I do know is pretty much in line with what Aleksandr said. Just not really sure what we should have done different, and not sure where to go from here. Maybe there is no longer any hope of a solution, and we just have to keep it in check.
