managed decline : TRex
Sounds about right. There is history in the Christian Church of having courts in our Churches to hold members accountable to each other and to settle disputes. What is the difference?

Mediation vs Arbitration.
Mediation is always good.
Arbitration is always bad.

(Those signing contracts in the US should take note of this. an arbitration clause in the contract simply means if the corporation you are contracting with doesn't live up to its end of the deal, you have no recourse.)

Having Sharia law givin the power of arbitration of family disputes could be an interesting developement. Wonder how they will honor the first scourging or caning of a woman convicted under Sharia of indecency.

Fortunately or unfortunately, under the British version of justice, the British laws are whatever they are decided to be on any given day. No written constitution to get in the way. So what the Justice said today has very little meaning in court tommorrow.

I guess if their judiciary is regulated by a stable National moral/cultural character then that was a good setup that allows for leeway in dealing with extremes and crisis. But enter legitimate multiculturalism and diversity ...

Thanx for the info on 'arbitration vs mediation'. That wasn't clear to me before.

Think of mediation as someone paid by the two of you to help keep negociations calm and productive. Arbitration is someone the corporation pays to rule against you.

I think the stable national moral charactor of England is why they got away with their judicial and unwritten constitutional system for so long. I think in the near future it will be challenged beyond their imagination.

nother rant : dw
I swear England has such a lively, colorful and interesting history. I cannot for the life of myself understand what has happened there. I understand from web browsing that we cam look to them for what will happen to ourselves. The analysis being that they are a few years ahead of us in the socialist's game of multiculturalism and diversity. Maybe their lack of a Constitution makes it easier for their good culture to be usurped by opportunists and interlopers.

I am thinking of the humanitarians and anthropoligists that have preached the preservation and respect for diverse cultures in the context of valuing other peoples beliefs and practices. I guess the West does not warrant that same respect in spite of what has been shown and taught to a back wards world. That's funny in that we are merely trying to preserve our own good culture and stability after having welcomed these cultures among us. I think in the declining years of Rome that also occurred.

I cannot understand any Western intellectual/political mentality that does fully support Western values and stability over all others interests residing in the West.

Have always been willing to consider the possibility that their is something wonderful that goes over my head that the Socialist sees and I do not. But I am a ground level working man and have the powers of observation and common sense that just won't let me cross that bridge into la la land.
