Heard the Obama just this mourning saying that we cannot let the auto industry fail.

I think if they failed, another would buy their factory's and retool for some kind of production. maybe even a non union auto plant. If congress would get the hell out of our business and do their job to protect our markets. I hope Thomas Paine starts that second revolution. Case anybody didn't see it. seen it.

This was never about saving GM or Chrysler. It has always been about saving the union jobs, union votes, and membership dues.

DW you are completely right that someone else would come along and take over, except the new owners like Toyota, Nissan, and Honda in the southern states would hire non-unionized workers.

Second we already invested too much money in them and letting them go bankrupt would mean the first 30 billion Obama gave them would go down the drain at once. He will not let this happen, he would rather have the guy that follow him have to deal with a bankrupt country then have to answer to why he just flushed a few dozen billion down the toilet.

It is a classical blackmail scheme. They blackmail you into doing something small at first that seems easy and will cause big problem to be avoided, but then they just use that first one to get you to do something worse. Give us 25 billion or else 10% of US workers go unemployed, well now give us 50 billion since you already put in 25, now we need 80 billion or the previous 75 billion go down the drain.

At some point we have to realize that this is all a sunk cost and let them die. The longer we drag this out the more it is going to cost us in the short and long term. We already spent 12.5 trillion to avoid losing 10 trillion.

Of course no body in politics knows what they are doing so they can’t brake down simple issues into things the constituency can understand.

Used to call this "throwing good money after bad."

There is another name for it, not blackmail, but
it is a cousin to blackmail. It is a type of
swindle used by Nigerians to get money out of
gullible and greedy americans.

You are right about the gullible, but I am not sure you can call us greedy when we are more then willing to part with our hard earned money to help out a dying multinational corporation that does most of its "Made in America" work in Mexico and Asia.

I meant the Nigerians use it on greedy americans.
They send an e-mail with a story in it that supposedly
will provide millions to the target, if only they
will grease some palms along the way. This only
works on those who have enough desire for money they
have not earned to cloud their judgement.

Didn't mean to imply Americans willing to bail
out GM are greedy.

I got yah. I know you don't think that, but the politicians and the rest of the world think it. They believe we should pay for a "problem" that we supposedly caused.

They think that since we got rich of their backs we should have to pay to fix the world. I am all for that as long as we can take back all those "problems" we caused, like you know the jobs we gave them so that we can better exploit them, the food so that there would be more of them to work for us, the infrastructure to better steal their resources, the education to better destroy their superior cultures, and our American entertainment to better control their women.
