I wrote a few days ago, on the same topic as the last three entries in your blog. There are certain things turning around, but most of the ones important to us will take a while.

Man, our dollar will never ne the same Rex. Inflation is another bailout tax. The sum value of all our dollars will be devalued and that inflation will also profit the same people that manage the financilal institutions whem they "trasnsfer our remaining wealth" to another economic block. I would to if I could. In the meantime I remember when Nixon summmarily devalued our dollar 10%. Is that a possibility today? Man if I had investment resource and inside info nack then I would have made a killing on that and hoarded silver coins. HEY Fort Knox? Where'd the gold go? Financial progressiveness works real good along side social progression. I am damn impressed. I wonder how impressed I'll be when I'm hungry.

Nixson did what needed to be done. We, as a nation, had already done the damage - but it wasn't appearant yet. We were in debt (federal debts) by many times the value of all the gold in our reserves, and it was getting worse by the year. Nixon devalued the dollar a couple of times and then delinked the dollar from the gold standard. Gold climed from $42 (after he devalued it) to well over $200 an oz in a short time. We were in "stagflation" before he did this, and it got worse in the years after. It didn't get better until around 1983, when things stabilized for about 9 years.

It wasn't (isn't) just the govenment. Remeber, the American population - taught by draft avoiding teachers at our schools and driven by a massive wave of radio and television advertizing - elected those in congress who would give them the most benifits. In the 60's and 70's we also began, as a population to spend our own personal money by the same standards, no longer looking at the ultimate costs, but only "can we make the payments." It got worse with the inflation spiral. Economic advisors (including consumer union, IIRC) told us it would be better to buy now, and pay it off later, cause the money would be worth less.

The self delusion way nearly universal throughout our society. As for what happened to all the gold the govenment used to own, it was autioned off when the price went above $240 an oz. Seemed like a good idea at the time, and it slowed the rise in gold prices during that time, although I think the IMF wound up holding a lot of it.

Good summary. Man I tell ya. The socialist are having a field day with the economic problems that they themselves had a large hand in creating.

Rex is it possible our dollar could be summarily devalued again? I used to have lotta jubk silver and collectable coins and silverounces for an emergengy but sold it years ago. Gold is so expensive and I don't trust it in a sever crises. If I have something you need and you hand me currency so large I cannot make change I'll jack the price up.

I don't see the change happening overnight (outside of some natural or man made disaster), but I see it happening over a period of time. I discuss it some in this article, and plan to follow up on it about once a month.

Rex one question. Oil reserves are at a high and demand is way down yet the price of gas is quietly going back up. I think a dollar a gallon in the last few months. Will the *** dare hit us with another unbelievable gouge asap or will they wait. Whats your opinion.

BTW man we fight costly wars and divide our nation and concede to the world up the wazoo to preserve the flow of the spice. Wheres in the hell is our reward or compensation? Another dildo is not what I had in mind

I wish I knew where you get your numbers for reserves
and demand, I am still looking for a source for that.

Oil reserves don't have too much to do with the price of
gas at the beginning of summer, but demand does, and I heard
on the news that summer driving is up, but I didn't hear
how much.

Generally, immediate supply and demand for gasoline cause
the prices, and I can only look about 3 weeks out on that,
but I suspect another 10 to 20 cents a gallon.

The price of crude has been going up steadily, and I think
improvements in China's manufacturing sector might have a lot
to do with it. It looks like we will be way above the $3
a gallon mark for gasoline next year. Wish our economy was
recovering at the same rate.

My source for the oil reserves was news bites and the reported 'use of gas being down' made sense due to the economuy? Forgot but it wasn't from CNN.
