…this is an argument I was making a couple of years ago, when the market went south and the banks started screwing with people. There are going to be significant long-term ramifications of this bubble bursting. This is only the start. On another note, it’s been…interesting as well as extremely aggravating…to see the mood shift gradually from “how dare you consider short selling you bum” to “well, you know, holding on just hurts the economy.”
Any article that starts with, “Top banking executives said…” is automatically suspect. That said, the government is not itself hindering the recovery; the real culprit is Wall St. They could resolve this thing quickly; however, the economic incentive is not there, so they will not. This is not necessarily wrong, it’s just inhuman.
…the only reason any member of the legislature opposes Elizabeth Warren is money. They are so buried in the pockets of special interests it’s a wonder they even bother to put on a show.
With this move, President Obama sends the message that his agenda for change is officially dead. Appointing Ms. Warren as an adviser to the SecTres, whom opposed her nomination as head of the CPA, is a political show…meant to appease her supporters, whilst giving her no authority or power. It’s also a direct bow to Wall St and their proxy, Geithner. I have no doubt Ms. Warren will do her absolute best and will probably not be silenced by this move, but she’ll be in the same zone the Vice President is: political limbo.
…absolutely ridiculous. Why do we pay taxes?

…the NAR says there’s a 12.5 month supply of housing out there. Be assured that means there is more.
…equally cool to the 5,000 years of war animation, and possibly more fascinating.
I’m taking a course in International Studies (Islam) and the instructor posted the war one, which led me to this one.
…I actually like this response very much. I’m all for candidness and the fact of the matter is that the birth certificate issue is dead. The man was elected. He commands the resources of the most powerful nation on Earth; there’s simply no way the system is going to let him be brought down by this issue, from the legislature to the Supreme Court.
I may be criticized for this, but I don’t think the birth certificate matters at this point.
…for me, the Ground Zero mosque isn’t a religious issue. It’s a respect issue and one which this thought experiment sums up nicely. Comments disabled in favor of the Battle Rhythm forum…
