…this lady is pretty much my hero. There are some who would say she’s milking the system for a free ride; however, when the system that originates mortgages is fundamentally corrupt…well, I applaud her.
Pointless, to quote the Scarecrow. Further, it’s a tone deaf action that indicates he’s not really interested in helping the average citizen.
In short, you don’t. The only issue I have with the sentiment that loan modifications wouldn’t work anyway (due to unemployment, etc.) is that the lenders haven’t been honest in their attempts. This negates (IMO) any further discussion of what could be. Speaking for myself only and lacking empirical data (which in turn makes this anecdotal), the mortgage company lied, misled, and obfuscated for much of the year I worked on our short sale. Only my perseverance and detailed notes (in which I repeatedly called out the company reps who lied to me) allowed me to successfully complete the sale.
The family and I are traveling this Thanksgiving. I’m quite apprehensive about the airport experience; I don’t want my baby girl going through one of these scanners and I’m not thrilled at the prospect of getting groin checked.
…this is pretty much how I’d be as an elected official. I’d be on YouTube (since the MSM wouldn’t carry me in context) naming every corrupt MOFO out there.
I would not be surprised. Holding the industry accountable…well, that would just be too hard. Instead, they will probably “whitewash” the whole thing, forgive the billions in fees owed to the States, and give the banks some more money for their troubles.
So Angel Mozilo gets a hefty fine (well deserved), but the Senators who got sweetheart deals…well, there’s nothing to see there, so move on.
UPDATE: The rabbit hole gets deeper, folks. Mozilo will not be required to pay a dime. Countrywide will pay $25M from a fund established to bail out the company from its shoddy practices (thus raping its customers and shareholders all over again), and the remaining $42.5M…well, Mozilo is under no obligation to pay it.

I am not a hater, but I am thoroughly disgusted by Mozilo, his legislative cronies, and the state of affairs today.
I think Mr. Friedman is optimistic. A third party candidate may very well rise up in 2012, but he or she will be fundamentally no different from the other two parties.
