Libya: what a mess
26-Mar-11The Kno: college textbook reader
25-Mar-11As a long time college student, I applaud this endeavor! I only hope (probably a futile hope) that the price of textbooks falls as a result (unlike the Kindle/Nook e-books). If not, the textbook publishers can expect their digital texts to be pirated.
*This is NOT a paid endorsement. I’m just looking forward to seeing this fielded.
Despite the best of intentions, I’m just not able to update the site with any degree of frequency. That said, some of my blogging has transferred to Facebook, which I can and do access on the fly from my BlackBerry. You are more than welcome to “Friend” and follow me there – if you can stand the format of two or three “baby” posts followed by one or three on the state of the housing market.
CombatEffective is not and won’t be abandoned. I just have to work the setup into my new life!

Newt for President?
27-Feb-11Not going to happen, sir. Do something productive with the money, please.
Why Elizabeth Warren Is Still the Best Choice for CFPB Director
With the President’s appointment of Warren to an advisory role, my hope for her nomination faded. I don’t see this happening, but she’s still a fantastic pick.
Nothing to see here, says Goldman Sachs
06-Feb-11Everything is just fine, says Goldman Sachs, as they do everything in their power to maintain their profit margin. Bias much?
Personal update
03-Feb-11It occurred to me today I haven’t said anything about my family in a long time. Well, CombatBaby is nearing ten months old. She is the love of my life (along with momma, of course). Yes, she has me wrapped around her cute little fingers. She’s mobile – scoots/crawls everywhere and gets into everything! – and we think within a week or so of walking.
She takes up nearly every moment of my spare time. What’s left goes to momma; what’s left of that goes to school…so the blog, necessarily, has suffered greatly. It isn’t dead, though, and will not die. It’s more accurate to say it’s in a pseudo-suspended animation type state.
I’ve continued to knock out classes for my Bachelor’s and am within shouting distance of the finish line. I’ll jump right into an MBA next; I want to have my Master’s knocked out before I retire from the Air Force, at which point I’m intending to use my GI Bill to get a Law Degree. My experiences these last couple of years have left me wanting to be a holy terror to corporate excesses.
So…that’s me. How’re y’all?

If these documents are destroyed, the tens – if not hundreds – of thousands of homeowners will have absolutely no recourse against foreclosure. In a just world, the court would prevent the lender from foreclosing w/out these documents, but they have shown they’re on the side of the corporation.
PSA: It’s still not a good time to buy a house.
Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are holding 242,000 properties off of the national market to prevent further deflation. That’s just these two entities folks; how many do the other banks combined hold?
…the service provider should most definitely use this in a commercial.
